TearDrops to Rainbows
In the Washington metropolitan region, Suntiva has been a long-time sponsor of Teardrops to Rainbows (T2R). This charity provides support, services and financial assistance to area children with cancer and their families. T2R plays an active role in helping children of all ages undergoing treatment at Fairfax Inova Hospital, Georgetown Medical Center and Children’s National Medical Center. Suntiva’s Wellness Program
The program includes regular competitions and events to encourage participation, and links to the company’s corporate giving and charitable donations programs. The first initiative, called Run to the Sun, groups employees into teams as they log Wellness Miles for a wide range of wellness-related activities, from exercise to diet and healthy lifestyle choices. For the first team to “reach the sun” through their total wellness miles, Suntiva will make a charitable donation to the children-based charity of their choice.
Military Child Education Coalition
The organization helps reach America's two million military-connected children, who in their own way, also serve their nation. Together, we can make an important difference....For the sake of the child. The MCEC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, world-wide organization. A model of positive leadership and advocacy, the MCEC's work is focused on ensuring quality educational opportunities for all military-connected children affected by mobility, family separation, and transition. Big Big World Project (BBW)
BBW began work three years ago to help the children of Ham Tan Children’s Center in Vietnam. We support the educational needs of the children by providing tutoring so they can pass the entrance exams to get them into college or trade school when they leave the orphanage. We also pay their tuition and ensure they have books, computers, bicycles and basic living expenses to help their attendance be a success. For the majority of these children an education is the major way to avoid extreme poverty, isolation, or becoming prey to the sex trade when they age out of the orphanage. Parks and Community Together (PACT)
Children living in homeless shelters and transitional housing have limited options for summer fun. The Fairfax County Park Authority, looking to expand these options, provides eligible children with free summer camp opportunities. Since 1997, the PACT program, in partnership with the county's homeless shelters, generous private sector sponsors and local grant makers, has provided summer fun and education for 404 children between the age of 3 and 15. Last summer, PACT successfully integrated 37 children from local shelters into Fairfax County Park Authority camp programs. Program partners include Alexandria's Mondloch House, Falls Church's Shelter House, Fairfax's Bethany Home, Lutheran Social Services serving local area shelters, Northern Virginia's Nova Family Services, New Hope Housing, and Good Shepherd Housing and Family Services, both of Alexandria.
