Suntiva Recognized as Minority Business Leader by Washington Business Journal
Dr. Hany Malik recognized as one of the top 25 Minority Business Leaders of 2011
FALLS CHURCH, VA, February 22, 2011...Suntiva, a trusted advisor to leaders in achieving their most critical business outcomes, announced that Hany Malik, MBA, PsyD, Chairman and Founder of Suntiva, has been selected by the Washington Business Journal as one of the 25 Minority Business Leaders of 2011. The Minority Business Leader Awards program recognizes the Washington region’s top 25 minority business leaders based on demonstrated business success.
An awards luncheon hosted by the Washington Business Journal will take place at the Capital Hilton on March 25, 2011, during which Dr. Malik will be honored with the other winners. The finalists will be profiled in a special supplement of the March 25, 2011 edition of the Washington Business Journal.
Dr. Malik, who immigrated to the United States from Cairo, Egypt, overcame cultural and business barriers to found a different kind of consulting firm, one that blends his deep knowledge of human behavior and doctoral-level psychology with profound business domain expertise. He positioned Suntiva as a partner to high-level executives, and as business grew, he found that clients trusted him to provide advice and expertise in a wide range of business lines, including IT Strategy & Governance, Program Management Support, Federal Acquisition and Organizational Performance.
The success of this strategy is clear – Suntiva has had eight consecutive years of revenue growth and profitability, maintains an employee attrition rate of under 10%, and has a 100% perfect record of customer satisfaction. By 2009, Suntiva rose to No. 80 on the INC 500 list of fastest growing private companies. The company was named to the INC 500 list for the third time in 2010 – only one of 17 companies to accomplish that feat. By year-end 2010, revenue increased by more than 50% over 2009, with six prominent organizations naming Suntiva to their coveted roster of the top privately held, fastest growing companies.
“The Minority Business Leader Awards program honors leaders who have achieved notable success in the last 18 months,” said the Washington Business Journal. In that time period, Dr. Malik has led Suntiva to win contracts or task orders totaling nearly $15 million in new federal agency business. Nine separate agencies awarded Suntiva work across the company’s four service lines. And in 2010, Dr. Malik’s leadership produced awards from six different organizations.
Dr. Malik has become a respected thought leader in the field of organizational performance and executive leadership. He has volunteered his time making presentations on leadership topics to young executive networking groups, appeared on radio talk shows and authored articles that focus on leadership techniques. He has also coached senior executives to become more powerful and effective leaders, which in turn creates a more positive and healthy environment for the staff within the organization. Local media calls him the “CEO’s shrink.”
“I am honored to accept the prestigious recognition by the Washington Business Journal as one of the top 25 minority business leaders,” said Dr. Malik. “Having just completed our largest revenue producing year since our inception, we enter 2011 with great enthusiasm from this tremendous success and genuine optimism for the business opportunities ahead.”
